I am working on a project to create a mail out to reach the techs that aren't highly connected like yourselves. They guys who rarely lift their heads up high enough to see the bench next to them never mind the rest of what is going on in the world around them.
With this in mindI have 2 questions? 1 - how do you connect with a tech like this? 2 - what 2-3 topics would be the most important considering that they probably aren't going to read past the first page of anything. ---------- Ryan |

Ryan,
It's tough to connect to a technician like this. From my opinion, He/She is usually just happy to leave the lab at the end of the day, they will rarely pick up any classified section, go to any trade meeting/show, or try to reach that next level. I'm not bagging on these type of people, I have some that work for me, however, their priorities don't revolve their profession, it's usually their family or hobby or etc. As for your second question, you would have to excite them about an oppurtunity. I'm not a marketing expert, but from what I read, something that grabs your attention, for instance a new start/beginning, a chance at that next level in their profession with some enticing offers is the only thing I would include, everything else falls under mundane. Hope this helps. |

I think the Tazer is the best tool.
Hey Rob, Just trying to identify these guys is a real challenge. Vocal and alert people are already out there with their heads up. Speaking to some of these guys makes me actually want to try to help them life their heads up and see the train coming down the tracks. There are so many changes going on in this industry that some of these bench techs are going to be swept away. The issues around China aren't going to go away, they will probably settle at some sort of equalibrium but it isn't there yet. Technology will eliminate several of the roles entirely and these guys don't have a clue. This is what interests me but I'm sure its not what will lift the head of your average tech. Ryan |

Bench techs, like the general public, will not look up at the train till it has gone by.(over them)
Hard to stimulate interest in people who aren't interested till theyare confronted with a given issue. So...a bench tech....If it's your bench tech, tell him he will be replaced because there is someone more motivated wanting his job. ???? He just might look up and say"HUH???" "What"??.
